Mix + Mingle Coffee Lounge is a proud pick-up site for the Deep Roots Farm weekly CSA subcription box beginning May 2023. (EVERY Friday 4-7pm)
Benefits of a CSA include:
Community Supported Agriculture is a direct food system that symbiotically connects farmer to consumer. The CSA model is a cropsharing method where members subscribe to a share in the farm's production for a season and receive weekly harvests. This cultivates a personal relationship between them; while the farmer is supplying fresh seasonal organically grown produce, the member is providing access to direct resources. It is the most direct farm-to-table method and grants members to experience the growing season with the farm.
FREE Coffee Grounds available here… RECYCLE. REDUCE. REUSE.
Coffee is good for more than just waking you up in the morning. Here are just a few incredible ways to use leftover coffee grounds.
Skin Care: Coffee grounds make an excellent exfoliating body scrub, cellulite treatment, puffy eye reducer and rejuvenating facial.
Absorb Food Odors:
Used coffee grounds can be used much like baking soda for absorbing
food odors in the refrigerator and freezer.
Natural Wood Stain: If you're annoyed by how terrible wood stain smells, then you take a more natural and odor-free approach by making your own. This can be achieved with the use of coffee grounds, and you don't even need to use any chemicals at all!
Meat Tenderizer: Did you know that coffee grounds can actually be used to make your meat a lot more tender? Coffee grounds contain natural acids and enzymes which are both effective when it comes to tenderizing meat.
Coffee grounds in the Garden:
-Sprinkle used grounds around plants before rain or watering, for slow-release nitrogen.
-Add to compost piles to increase nitrogen balance.
-Dilute with water for a gentle, fast-acting liquid fertilizer. Use about a half-pound of wet grounds in a five-gallon bucket of water; let sit outdoors to achieve ambient temperature.
-Mix into soil for houseplants or new vegetable beds.
-Encircle the base of the plant with a coffee and eggshell barrier to repel pests.
